A message from the Franklin Hospital Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer
Hello Friends,
Thank you for taking the time to visit our hospital’s website. We hope that it is representative of the quality care that we provide each and every patient at Franklin Hospital.
Since the summer of 2002, we have undergone a complete reorganization led by the hospital board of directors. Faced with closure in May of 2002, the board, along with local elected officials and the community, came together to keep the doors open in the face of mounting debt. Through the generosity of the residents of the county, over $40,000.00 was raised and used as interim operating cash, while the United States Department of Agriculture processed a $4 million loan request. Inherent in the loan request was the requirement that the hospital attain Critical Access Hospital (CAH) status. The United States Department of Health & Human Services administers the CAH program. Designation as a Critical Access Hospital positively changes the reimbursement formula for Medicare costs for small, rural hospitals. For facilities such as Franklin Hospital, this designation was and is necessary for us to be able to continue to provide healthcare services in our rural communities.
The hospital board of directors and the administrative team recently went through its annual strategic planning process. This time consuming planning exercise has yielded a new commitment to both our patients and our staff. First and foremost, we will continue to improve the quality of our healthcare services through education, retention and recruitment of highly skilled medical professionals including physicians and nurses.
Other recent changes to our hospital include the internal measurement of patient satisfaction through an aggressive survey program. We want to know what we do right and what we need to improve upon. By taking the time to ask our patients about their experiences at our hospital we change for the better.
I invite you to visit our facility and experience compassionate care available right here at home.
Sincerely,
Hervey Davis
